Work shadowing at LHV
I have had the wonderful opportunity to follow Silver Kalmus around for a week, learning all about investment banking and bond missions. He gave me the assignment of finding a company with the potentiality of making an IPO in the near future. I chose Bolt. If you wish to see my pitch then get in touch 😎.
Following the presentation, the investment banking team voiced their impression of what I had accomplished in such a short time, and for their sincere compliments, I am most grateful. Their observations about the quality of my work despite a severe time constraint, was immensely encouraging. I really enjoyed the fact that despite a large proportion of the team working from home this week, those in the office were always welcoming and prepared to address any questions I had.
I learnt so much this last week: investigating IPO pricing, company valuations, and even discovered greenshoe options. I also had fun learning how to use AI LLMs such as Gemini to create a map (although I eventually ended up doing it myself 😂) and generating an investor pitch document for an IPO with a distinctive format.
Despite the nerves and excitement, I discovered the exhilarating experience of crunch-time preparation in the hours leading up to a thrilling presentation. This was highly motivating and certainly something I look forward to continuing, given the opportunity to do so.
Aside from enjoying the stunning vistas, the three-screen arrangement, and the comfy chair, I really enjoyed getting dressed up for work; I felt put together and confident wearing my finest jewellery. Despite the fact that I really enjoyed creating the pitch presentations, one of the many delights of this week was realising how much I’d love to work in banking once more, perhaps in a more creative capacity.
Most importantly, I had a fulfilling experience and met some incredible individuals. Here’s a photo of me enjoying lunch with the Investment Banking team following my pitch:
Best wishes to everyone I met and follow along for more of my adventures :)!
